BariTones - "Einstimmige Mehrstimmigkeit" - Tübinger Jazz & Klassiktage 2018

  • Bürgerhaus "Kelter" Entringen 11 Kelternstraße Ammerbuch, BW, 72119 Germany (map)

with Chris Condon, alto and soprano saxophone

This year focuses on the sound of the saxophone in all its forms: The saxophone is, compared to piano or violin, a monophonic instrument, which creates many challenges when performing solo literature. This concert showcases that possibility, but not only that.

There will be also the opportunity to hear how the saxophone is capable of producing multiphonics - several tones simultaneously - as well as the resulting polyphony when a performer plays along with another, prerecorded part.

To contrast and compliment the program, Noah Bedrin and Chris Condon will be performing duo literature for bari and alto saxophones. A wide palette of repertoire, ranging from Bach’s Inventions to the newest original works, will show the many sonic possibilities of which the saxophone is capable.
